Charlie is, as I suggested in an earlier post, “getting his gonads into gear”. Apart from his disgusting behaviour at treading the ailing (and now ex-) yellow chook, he has started to attempt crowing and has been attempting to tread some of the other chooks. I’m not sure he’s really got himself properly co-ordinated at the business yet, but doing so in front of Chalky this morning earned him a swift clobbering from the older rooster.
It is quite interesting to watch Charlie eye up one of the ladies; he circles around her with a hopping motion and then flicks his outer wing up and down vertically beside his body before moving in to make a pass at the unfortunate dame. It certainly looks as if the spring will be an interesting contest between youth and experience.
