Out feeding the birds early over the weekend, I was standing watching the small brown jobs feeding from the seed feeders that are kept stocked for them here at The Chookery. A few feet from me was a rowan tree and I noticed a couple of very small birds whizzing in and out of it. One of them was kind enough to perch up for a few seconds and give me a good view of his golden crest, long enough to confirm that he was a firecrest. The Queen of the Chooks confirmed the sighting yesterday morning, so I feel confident to report the new visitors here for all to enjoy.
