New boots and new music

Off into Glasgow on Saturday for some essential, if expensive, shopping. The essentials were a new pair of walking boots (Meindl Burma Pro if anyone is interested) and a new pair of glasses (my eyes have deteriorated by 0.5 dioptre in about one month, which was a little startling).
Also stopped off for a lunchtime pint in my favourite grotty city-centre bar (Alfredo’s on West Nile Street) and picked up a choral score for the Messiah, which is the next work to be performed by the local singers of which I’m a member.
Commissioned by Her Maj to get her the new Seth Lakeman CD, I went into HMV and found they were out of stock of that, but did have Karine Polwart and a Wolfstone compilation recommended by a colleague. All very excellent, and, if you’ve never listened to any of them, get hold of the CDs and fill your ears.
