I have spent short periods of time today doing some necessary gardening. Short periods because I get bored with pulling weeds and come indoors to find something more interesting to do. One of the tasks today was to weed the overgrown patio and make it tidy for when Her Maj brings her mother up to stay next week. Pleased with the results, and having weeded the very narrow bed at the edge of the patio, I swept the slabs clean and went in for lunch. Came out after lunch to find a couple of busy and absorbed chooks raking the soil back out of the bed and onto the patio in their search for worms and suchlike beasties. Chased them off, swept up again and lo! the same happened again. Well, I’m prepared to learn my lesson and will leave tidying up again until the chooks have decided that they have cleared the whole area of worms and suchlike delicacies; either that or get some summer bedding – now there’s a thought!
