Learning from Mum and Dad

Gozzie is now two weeks old and growing every day. Her Maj and I still think of him as “him”, even though his gender is quite indeterminate at the moment, and may well be for some considerable time to come, for all that. He is very good at imitating his parents and this morning was stretching out his neck in the same way they did when let out of their pen, but could only emit a feeble peeping in place of the adults’ honking and hissing. He is eating grass voraciously and it is possible to see that his crop is developing. I don’t let him get any grain yet; that is put out for the geese mainly in a bucket which is too high for him to crane over. I’ll try to get some more recent toggies up on the blog to mark his development.
