A Gravedigger Writes:

It is with regret that PTC announces the departure from this vale of tears of Old Red, the confused cockrel of this parish. Upon arrival home this evening, sounds of distressed chooks could be heard coming from the chook-coop and the large white hen-chook was standing outside the entrance. Closer inspection revealed the body of a large red cock-chook obstructing the entrance. Upon extraction of the obstructive cockrel, he was found to be exhibiting limited vital signs, although clearly beyond resuscitation (PTC being no expert in mouth-to-beak techniques). The coup de grace was administered and a grave dug in the paddock, underneath the sunny hedge which is a favourite of the chook-birds. Two tail feathers were preserved for posterity, assuming they won’t blow away before PTC remembers to go and pick them up again.

Take care that his former wives don’t dig him up!

I did imagine going down there this evening and finding a foot sticking up out of the ground and a zombie rooster following it to the surface … I really must drink less coffee and get more sleep …
